Jane Clark Chermayeff founded her firm to focus on visitor-centered exhibitions and creative environments for learning. An educator and exhibition developer, Jane held positions at the Smithsonian Institution's Traveling Exhibition Service, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Smithsonian's Design Museum, where she was the first Director of Education. With Jane Clark Chermayeff & Associates LLC, she has developed an international portfolio and noted expertise making complex subjects accessible to diverse audiences through multimedia exhibits and programs.
Jane was awarded the Japan Foundation Fellowship and the Doing Art Together Award for her contributions to arts education in New York City.
An advisor to the Hudson River Foundation, the Exploratorium, the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve, and the New York State Council on the Arts, she sits on the boards of the New York Studio School, the School Art League of New York, and Parks & Trails New York. Jane lectures frequently on interpreting cultural landscapes and has written, co-authored, and edited articles and books, including "Working at Play: Informal Science Education on Museum Playgrounds", The Design Necessity, the Neighborhood Conservation Source Book, and the original Kids Culture Catalogue.
Julia Rousakis is a writer and editor specializing in exhibitions and interpretive materials for public audiences. Prior to joining JCC&A in 2004, Julia worked on projects for the American Federation of Arts, the National Building Museum, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, and the Berkshire Museum, and was an editor for Scholastic News classroom magazines. She began her museum career at the Jewish Museum in New York, serving on the curatorial team that developed its 11,000-square-foot permanent exhibition. An award-winning reporter, Julia received her BA and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
Ali Stein joined JCC&A in 2009 as project manager, with experience in informal science learning, technology education, and visitor studies. Recently she conducted evaluation and staff training at Valley Forge National Historical Park in preparation for a redesigned welcome center and visitor experience. Ali began her career in exhibition development and informal learning with the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California, where she worked on several exhibitions including the new permanent children’s wing and a temporary exhibition about the secret lives of seahorses. Prior to joining JCC&A, she received a master’s degree in Technology, Innovation, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. At HGSE, Ali focused on the complicated role of new media in informal learning and the practice of formative evaluation in educational product development. Ali graduated from Oberlin College with high honors in Geology.
Judith C. Siegel provides educational, programmatic, project management, and interpretive services to JCC&A and other clients including the Museum of Modern Art, Whirlwind & Company exhibition designers, and The Center for Jewish History. A frequent presenter at professional gatherings, Judy is the former Director of Education, Media and Public Programs at The Jewish Museum in New York. She is a member of the Hebrew College Board of Overseers in Boston, the steering committee for the Council of American Jewish Museums, and the NY Advisory Board for Facing History and Ourselves, a national organization committed to teaching about racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism. Judy holds master's degrees in Art History and Museum Education from Hunter College CUNY and Bank Street College.
