The Ambassador John L. Loeb Jr. Visitors Center in Newport, RI, is planned as a place to discover the roots of religious tolerance in America. The Loeb Visitor Center's jewelbox building stands across Patriot's Park from the Touro Synagogue, the nation's oldest synagogue building, dedicated in 1763 and now a national historic site. JCC&A advised the exhibition team on refining exhibit concepts and themes for the visitor center, including multimedia vignettes that reveal how Newport's Jewish community participated fully in 18th-century Rhode Island's remarkably integrated society.
The project was funded by the Touro Synagogue Foundation.
