JCC&A, on a team led by Shapins Associates, has been selected to revitalize the experience of visiting the Statue of Liberty. Thousands of visitors cross the Hudson River to reach Liberty Island every day, but only a fraction are allowed to enter the Statue itself. Together with landscape architects at Shapins Associates and technological innovators from Counts Media, JCC&A will develop the concept and design for a Discovery Trail offering interactive activities and interpretive opportunities to make every visit a meaningful experience of "liberty."
The project is being sponsored by the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Foundation, a private non-profit corporation, in partnership with the National Park Service.
