JCC&A organized a community forum as part of its ongoing work with the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), Urban American, and Lee Weintraub Landscape Architecture to introduce a dynamic new playground at Roosevelt Island’s Blackwell Park. The forum invited participants from the Roosevelt Island community to join experts in play and playground design to consider the current master plan for the playground and the importance of play in the community. Speakers included Lee Weintraub, landscape architect and designer of Blackwell Park; Alice Wilder, national leader in children’s media and producer of Nick Jr.’s hit show Blue’s Clues; Juliet Gray-Moliere, senior manager of early childhood education at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and Nikki Leopold, executive director of Island Kids, Inc. The program provided an innovative way of integrating experts and constituents in planning for the future of the site. Click here for details.
