A River Runs Through It

JCC&A is collaborating with the Natural Heritage Trust and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation to develop a conceptual plan for a new Nature Center at Letchworth State Park. Located in western New York, Letchworth—known as the “Grand Canyon of the East”—boasts three majestic waterfalls, hiking trails along the Genesee River, sports and recreational activities, and a museum dedicated to the park’s history from the Ice Age to the Gilded Age, when the land was conserved by the philanthropist and industrialist William P. Letchworth. JCC&A will work with park staff and architects and planners from the Rochester-based firm of Clark Patterson Lee to develop interpretive guidelines and site-planning criteria for the Nature Center, which is envisioned as a destination attraction and a base for exploring this outstanding landscape.
