Ambitious plans are underway for the greening of New York City. Key to New York’s environmental connection is its harbor—the diverse array of ecosystems that inspired the founding and growth of the city and continues to sustain it today. Thriving populations of fish, birds, mammals, and plants live there—even after decades of environmental challenges. To raise awareness of these vital resources, JCC&A is collaborating with the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy to produce an environmental harbor tour sponsored by The Tiffany & Co. Foundation. With appeal for residents and visitors alike, the tour will take people out on the water to enjoy the harbor’s wildlife up close and to experience the fascinating natural aspects of our shared landscape.
"Once you are in a boat, things start to make more sense. The bay becomes an obstacle when on land, but is part of a system when you’re in the water."
