The Carnegie Museums are developing an integrated river landscape of watershed-themed exhibits and shoreline plantings at the Carnegie Science Center. Eco.experience visitors will explore why "Our Rivers Matter," an especially significant idea in Pittsburgh, where the Allegheny and Monongahela converge to form the Ohio River and a direct connection, via the Mississippi, to the Gulf of Mexico. JCC&A is coordinating the design team led by Atelier Dreiseitl and the Carnegie Museum staff and advisers to create a plan and funding proposal for outdoor exhibits and interactive landscapes.
Paddlefish (above) are being re-introduced to Pittsburgh, one sign that the rivers are recovering to pre-industrial conditions.
