As a Fulbright Specialist, Jane was invited to consult with the Instituto Caro y Cuervo in Colombia on a major museum-planning effort. The ICC, a linguistics institute founded in 1942 in Bogotá, is creating the Museo Jardin (Museum-Garden) at its suburban satellite site, Hacienda Yerbabuena. This effort comes at an interesting time in Colombia’s history, with major population shifts to cities from the countryside. In this, the first project of her five-year Fulbright term, Jane led intensive workshops to define the mission, character, and key components of the Museo Jardin: an indoor-outdoor learning environment where visitors can explore how language, culture, and geography intertwine to create a society and national identity. Jane continues to consult with the ICC as the project develops.
